The Union of Surveyors and Land Managers in Bulgaria (USLMB) is a public, professional and non-partisan organization. Its membership ranges from students to retirees and from technicians to university professors, bringing together employees of public and private companies, enterprises and universities, as well as employers and professionals engaged in surveying and related activities.
The Union was established in 1922 and is a member of the Federation of Scientific and Technical Unions in Bulgaria. It has regional structures in almost all 28 administrative districts of the country.
Through the Union, Bulgaria is represented in international organizations and institutions. USLMB is an active member of the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), founded in Paris, as well as a member of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS), the International Cartographic Association (ICA), the Council of European Geodetic Surveyors (CLGE) and the European Group of Surveyors (EGoS). The Union also maintains contacts with other international organizations and develops bilateral and multilateral cooperation with professional organizations and institutions in other countries.
USLMB carries out a wide range of activities in the organizational, scientific and technical, international and publishing fields. It cooperates with government institutions, private companies and other organizations, supports the professional interests of its members, and undertakes various financial and professional initiatives. The Union organizes international and national symposia, conferences and seminars, as well as national and regional meetings, and publishes proceedings containing materials presented at these and other professional events.
Since 1961, USLMB has published the scientific and technical journal “Geodesy, Cartography and Land Management”.
